Thirteenth Jornadas Rolando Chuaqui Kettlun
Call for Papers
Santiago, Chile – October 19, 20 and 21, 2011
For the thirteenth consecutive year the universities of Chile, Católica de Chile, Santiago de Chile and Valparaiso, recall the figure of the distinguished mathematician, philosopher of science and Chilean thinker, Professor Rolando Chuaqui Kettlun who exercised perhaps the most important leadership development of the formal sciences in our country during the twentieth century. The purpose of the organizers of this conference is to preserve the effect of transmitting their work Chuaqui legacy to new generations of mathematicians, scientists and philosophers nationals.
It is in this spirit that the Organizing Committee invites the philosophical and mathematical community in our country and abroad to the XIII Rolando Chuaqui Kettlun to be held at the University of Santiago de Chile, on 19, 20 and October 21, 2011.
Selection and Presentation of Papers 2011
The Organizing Committee invites national and foreign specialists, to contribute to the Jornadas with a paper in Spanish, Portuguese or English. In particular, all papers reflecting on the relationship between philosophy and science, with emphasis on the following areas, are very welcome:
- (a) epistemology
- (b) history and philosophy of science
- (c) philosophy of logic and language
- (d) mathematical logic
- (e) foundations of mathematics, the theory of computation and artificial intelligence.
There are two kind of submissions: papers and presentations. The selection of papers is a fundamental condition that stakeholders submit an extended abstract of about 800 basic words, including literature, the selection of communication is required to submit an abstract of about 300 words, including the basic bibliography. It includes a time of 45 minutes for presentations (30 exposure and 15 for discussion) and 30 minutes for communications (20 exposure and 10 for discussion). Both the articles and papers should be emailed in a Word file in the Secretary of Coordination of the Organizing Committee, whose address is made below, no later than July 29, 2011. The abstract should clearly indicate the beginning:
- a. author’s name and academic position in the institution (professor, lecturer or reader, or student)
- b. the modality you want the work to be evaluated.
Abstracts will be selected according to the report by different specialists in total anonymity of the author (blind review). We will not accept summaries that do not meet the above conditions. In the event that a paper is selected, the author will be asked submit a brief summary in Word format of no more than 150 words that will be played on the agenda of the conference.

National expositors: 20,000 Chilean pesos
Foreign expositors: U.S.$ 40 (to be paid on the first day of the Symposium)
Students: 3,000 Chilean pesos
General public: 5,000 Chilean pesos
